It's almost been a week since we have been back from our New York City buying trip. I'll have to admit - that's one BIG city! Lots to see and do but, I was happy to come home to my back yard and Erie traffic! I swear we took our life in our hands every time we got in a cab! The
show itself was a little disappointing , but we, Sandy and I, came away with some exciting products and new ideas.
We traveled to Ralph Lauren's flagship store only to find the furniture floor was closed for renovation. What a disappointment... The building was absolutely gorgeous though. He sure knows how to make everything look elegant. We, also went to the MacKenzie-Childs store - great fun. ABC Carpet and Home was also a must see for our trip. It was a little disappointing after the first floor... I guess they are renting the top floors out now and they aren't decorated the way I expected them to be.
We also traveled to John Derian's store. John Derian composes art under glass using clipped images. His store is in an old building with interior brick walls and antique tin tiles on the ceiling. Everywhere you look is a hidden treasure. I can't wait to have his art hanging on my store's walls and propped on shelves. We placed an order with his company and it should arrive sometime in November. His work is really beautiful! Can't wait!
Other wonderful things we found are great photo albums, artwork, wonderful needlepoint pillows and stools, awesome lamps, and sipping chocolate. I guess sipping chocolate (and yummy chocolate martinis) are all the rage now. As soon as it comes in we will have a Sipping Chocolate Party!
Bye for now. Sue
