Hi everyone,
Once again it has been too long since I've checked in with all of you. My husband, Keith, and I, traveled to Washington last Friday. We stayed until Monday night. I had business at the Design Center (tell you about this later) and I thought it would be great to stay a few days and visit . If you can believe it, I had never been to DC!! I absolutely loved it!! It was a bit chilly....most of the workers (especially the ones who shovel the sidewalks around the monuments and museums) had not come to work because they had 3" inches of snow. Anyway, navigating around the city on foot got to be a little tricky, especially if you are always looking around so as not to miss anything....and you miss seeing a giant patch of ice!!
I absolutely loved my experience. Forget Disneyland for your children....DC is a wonderland all by itself. I wish I would have realized how inspiring the city is...I would have made sure that my children would have experienced this so they would want their children to experience it.
The Washington Design Center is actually in the heart of the city...walking distance from the Smithsonian. I really don't get too exited about design centers on the whole...they are so "high end". Don't get me wrong, I love almost everything in them....I just can't afford to buy their offerings for the shop...they simply wouldn't sell....anyone for a $5000 sofa? So this part of my job is extremely difficult. I love all the well-made name brands and designers...Barbara Barry, Ralph Lauren, Mitchell Gold.....etc.....just can't sell them in Erie. So.o.o what I do is try to sell the "looks" I love that may be inspired by the those designers. This takes a lot more work than walking into one showroom and pointing and ordering. Anyway, where I am going with this? Just trying to let you know that I "picked up" a new furniture line...it won't be in until the beginning of April. Lots of great lines...cleaner shapes and straighter lines, but also, extremely traditional furniture too!! The best of both worlds...slipcovers that are "prewashed", upholstered headboards and bed frames, funky chairs , comfy love seats....Oh, and the new and exciting idea of a "green" sofa. Everything used to make the sofa is domestically made and is made from recycled materials and all natural products!! I will tell you more about this later.
Ok...lots of new in the store while I was away. Wonderful new artwork from a company that I stopped carrying for a couple of years. They are back now and have some really interesting framing techniques...artwork you won't see everywhere. Come in and take a look.
Also, new upholstered pieces that I will try to get a picture for you soon. Better come in and take a look for yourself. We are always happy to see you. Take care, Sue
