It's Spring!!

Spring is finally here!! Well, today it is anyway...If you missed our Spring Tea you can still come in and see all the beautiful florals and specialty items we have found to celebrate the new season. These adorable little urns hold name cards for your Easter and springtime celebrations. We have dozens of nests and eggs too! Try adding some fresh new bunches of flowers to your home and see what a difference it makes in how your home feels and how you feel...

Tuck a nest or two into the cubby of a shelf or next to a clay pot. For a refreshing spring table we put tall white florals in a clear glass vase with bright green artificial eggs in the bottom. Then added two hurricane candle sticks on either side of the vase. To finish this off we then added two more short hurricane glasses partially filled with green gravel and some white votive candles.
The vase and the assorted hurricane globes can be used every season by simply changing out the color of the candles and flowers. We try to carry items in the store that can have multiple purposes .
The table runner I used for this setting was simply a strip of green and white striped fabric that I can use during the Christmas season also.
The candles are battery operated and even flicker!! No need to worry about burning your nearby floral centerpiece when you use these great candlesticks (they are perfect to use in you pumpkins for Halloween.)

Maybe your sofa could use some sprucing up by simply adding some bright pillows.
Here we have added a pair of "sprout" green ones to our classic black and white houndstooth sectional. The black and white "zebra" rug is quite in vogue now and can be use in any room whether traditional or contemporary.

As always a great mixed bouquet of flowers works wonders on a entry table. What a great way to welcome your guests...

Great looking floral arrangements are only one of the ways we use flowers at Traditions. Come see us on Saturday, March 31, from 2-4 and see how we put together floral wreaths and baskets. We will be doing demos during that time and we will answer any questions that you may have.....hop on over!! Talk to you soon, Sue

Spring Makeovers

I'm sure that everyone of us at some time or other would like to have a "makeover" whether it be for ourselves or our homes. I think we have to be careful in how we go about it. How many of you have gone to the makeup counter and had a "makeover" only to rush home and scrub everything of your face because it was just "too much" or just "not me"? I recently read an article in one of the home magazines that made me really think about this. We watch the HGTV shows and wonder how many people really like what was done to their homes and how many really keep it that way. Most of us have some pieces of furniture or art work that we truly love. We need to keep those elements in our home. Don't think a "makeover" means ..get rid of everything! Our rooms still need to reflect our personalities.
A decorator is there to help and guide you. Hopefully, a decorator also will help you avoid costly mistakes. Don't be afraid to consult with a decorator..if that person is truly doing his or her job, you won't be sorry and will welcome the help.

It is really important to keep a notebook and scrapbook of rooms that you like...maybe not the whole room, but maybe the paint color or the window treatments. In this way you will have something to fall back on when shopping for items for your home. I feel that most decorators would love your input, as you in turn would love theirs' after you have presented them with your "idea" folder.

You never know what may inspire you. It really helps to be able to sit on a sofa, put your feet up on an ottoman, or see what "tannery cream" really looks like in a room. Hopefully, we at Traditions, can help inspire and guide you in your choices. Bring in some photos and see if we can help...Come in and see all that is new for Spring. We have some great new upholstered pieces just in. Stop by and sit awhile!! Take care, Sue

Monogramming is "in"

Hi everyone,
We just received some wonderful new products at the store. I noticed at the last market a big trend toward monogramming and personalization of everything from towels to underwear!! What a great gift for a housewarming or for a new bride and groom. There is always that hard to buy for person....monogrammed soaps, napkins, guest towels, and coaster sets are a perfect solution. We have complete stock right now so don't delay in stopping in and stocking up!

Also, new are gorgeous pieces from a new furniture company called Artistica. I'll include some pictures of some of the pieces shortly. We also received new small furniture accent pieces....end tables, coffee tables and trunks.

It is hard to think spring right now but if you stop in the shop you will definitely get a "lift" from all the new florals, nests, baskets, and wreaths. Don't forget our upcoming Spring Tea on March 24....we have a special gift for you for just stopping in and joining in on the fun!! Talk to you soon..Sue
