"Cool stuff" arriving daily!!

"Insanity is merely an opinion"...isn't that the truth. Great new artwork arrived today. These images are stretched canvas. They would work great in a family room or game room.
"Use it when it's to your advantage, abandon it when it becomes your limitation"....another great phrase to ponder. We did have a third image, but it sold about a half an hour after it was unpacked. These images are about 24" by 36". They make a great statement on a big bare wall!!

Also new, antique images on postcards. They are great to frame and hang in a small grouping....or you could send them to a friend.

From the same company....little notebooks that are small enough to tuck into your purse. A sweet little ribbon wraps around the notebook to hold the pages safely. They are a wonderful small gift idea.

This sling back chair has an adjustable back that reclines. It is covered in a cheery red, white, and blue patchwork. Really comfy for those lazy summer afternoons.

The greatest thing about these chairs is that the cover can easily be slipped off and replaced. A dowel slips into the pocket at the top and bottom of the seat cover. When the dowels are removed the seat can be removed. A new cover can easily be made (straight sewing!!) and the dowels slipped back in...tada! that easy!!
I think that is about it for now...but lots more to come. Make sure you stop in and see us once in a while...if not, you will never know what you are missing!! Bye for now, Sue

Easier said than done...

Hi everyone! This is a picture of the "once upon a time barn red cabinet". I got the notion in my head to paint it after work last Saturday. I have no idea why I thought I could accomplish this in one evening!! I worked on it for four hours that first night. I bought a stain blocker to prime it with. Now here is the lesson I learned.....a latex stain blocker will block out the red paint, but not the heavy duty mahogany stain that covered the inside of the cabinet!! I was able to cover the red painted part of the cabinet with two coats of the primer, but....
the inside of the cabinet was another story....

After two coats of primer the mahogany stain was still bleeding through. I needed a primer that was oil based in order to cover the stain. It was already 10:00 pm, so I decided to call it a day. This bugger was in the middle of the store so I knew that I would have to finish up on Sunday. Bright and early Sunday morning I trooped off to buy the oil based primer. It covered after one coat. I then had to apply two coats of the top coat. I used Benjamin Moore's low lustre acrylic exterior house paint in Dover White. It goes on so smoothly....no brush or roller marks. Which reminds me....use a small roller when doing these kinds of projects, it goes so much faster. So early Sunday afternoon I was finally finished!!!!Hooray!! The girls helped me lift the pieces in place on Monday morning...and it was business as usual....

Thought I would add a couple of shots of the new Pine Cone Hill PJ's for you to see. More are on the way....they are absolutely adorable! You can actually get coordinating bedding...

The "sister" company of Pine Cone Hill is Dash and Albert. They make coordinating rugs to go along with the Pine Cone Hill group. These rugs are from the Rain or Shine collection. You can literally hose them off when they get soiled!!! Great color combinations in snappy stripes...
Dash and Albert also makes large sturdy tote bags with leather handles out of their great rugs. Perfect for toting all of the summer stuff around...Lots more "stuff" coming in the shop every day. Come see us...Take care, Sue

I'm The Boss!

OK...so I let power go to my head. On Wednesdays during the summer I watch my three grandsons, Kyle 10, Zack 8, and Jeremy 6, so their Mom, Kelli, can work at the shop. We stopped by to check in on everyone and bring some pizza for lunch and the boys decided that everyone needed name tags. Zack made mine...but Kyle decided that I wasn't the "maniger (manager) because I "own" the store so I am the boss!
After some shopping at the grocery store and a trip to Office Max for some art supplies for the boys , we stopped to play some tennis at Frontier Park. The boys are getting along pretty well right now...but there are times.

This is going to be the highlight of the summer. We are trying to plan something different every week. One of the things we are working on is completing the Keystone Active Zone workbook. The book lists dozens of activities and projects to be completed while visiting all of the parks and playgrounds in the Erie area. If you would like to receive a copy of the booklet for your child you may call 796-4732, for Maria Liggett, or go to www.KeystoneActiveZone.org. for more info.
I'll get back to you in a couple of days to tell you about some great new merchandise.....to get a sneak preview take a look at www.pineconehill.com and www.siddickens.com . Talk to you soon, Sue

Timing is everything

I don't know about you, but I'm obsessed with time! Never enough.......Recently, I've noticed a trend of displaying multiple clocks in decorating......as if we needed more reminders of how precious little time we have!! We have many beautiful little clocks in the store. Little silver clocks...
Clocks that are in touch with nature...

How about this great little clock? Perfect for Father's Day?
Or this elegant clock. To give the clock more height in your grouping, stack a couple of old books and place the clock on top.

This novel clock is so much fun! It's a silly monkey riding a bike......

Now on to other great Father's Day gifts...A comfy leather chair for Dad's office. And lucky you, all of the leather in the shop is now on sale for at least 25% off!! Many chairs and sofas are up to 38% off! We need to make room for all the great new merchandise that is arriving daily.

This amazing chair is perfect for reading with your child. We have even caught a gentleman taking a short snooze in it!

This warm chocolate brown recliner has a high back that is tufted and so.o.o comfy.

Softly turned arms and soft leather make this sofa my favorite. It is great for small spaces. The arms are small so that space isn't wasted. This is only a sampling of the wonderful values that can be found at the shop. Sometimes it is hard to buy leather when it is so warm outside...but remember, that come fall, you will be sorry that you didn't snatch up these great leather values. Hurry in now and we can have your choices delivered in time for Father's Day! Also, make sure that you check out this blog often...we have some really fun stuff coming in shortly, and a great special event planned....we just don't know the exact dates yet!! So.o.o take a little time out from your hectic schedule and visit with us. Take care, Sue
