Snippets of Spring.....

Our Spring Tea last Saturday was a huge success!! I would like to thank every one of you that came by the shop to see us. The Chinese Auction benefiting the Emmaus Soup Kitchen was also a success......through your generous donations we are able to send them $305.00.

Bright and sunny colors are popping up everywhere in the store...

Don't you just love the paisley lamp? and the "faux" tulip in water?

These roses look like they were just plucked from the garden..
More paisley fabric on this yummy slip covered chair....
Tulips and daffodils waiting for you to take them home...
Our garden area is bursting with blossoms.....
Colorful cosmos in one of our new pottery pots...
We freshened up our "cubby" display shelving with fresh white paint....

This cuttings vase full of spring flowers would be the perfect Easter gift.....

Why not plant some grass in a low container and hide some crystal Easter eggs in it?

I love the look of pairing a settee with the dining table......see my cute little pots of grass?....

I used all different shapes of glass on my table....hurricane inside of a hurricane...low bowl for grass...tall cylinders for faux bulbed "weeds", mercury glass votives, and single hurricanes filled with split peas and white rice and candles...
I have lots more to show you....or come in and see us. I am going to the Jr. Olympic wrestling state finals in Wilkes-Barre later today (grandson , Zack qualified) ...so this is about all I have time to show you today! Take care, Sue

My Idea of Overhead Lighting....

We are busy at the shop doing some painting and spring cleaning...so I thought I would send some pics your way of some wonderful overhead lighting...Make sure to allow some time to stop by the shop next Saturday, March 20th, for our Spring Tea...we will have refreshments and a Chinese auction to benefit Emmaus Soup kitchen.

Not only do I love the chandelier in this bathroom, but check out the antique mirrored wall!
A funky chandelier complements the modern seating. the chalkboard wall is so much fun..Notice that even in "designer" rooms the chandelier is "swagged" over to hook above the table. So don't let electrical outlets hold you back from hanging a light over your table.
I probably have shown you this pic before...just think it is so great.

Love the combo of "rustic and refined". The formal chandelier is such a fresh contrast to the rustic wood.

Chandeliers in bedrooms....yes!

How sublime.

A great addition to the living room...

More funky fun...

Antique nickle pendant lights finish this space.

I love this combo too....doesn't the table seem a little tall to you?

Great task lighting over a phenomenal work space....
Another sweet bedroom...
Sometimes a simple drum shade is all that is needed ...

Wonderful industrial look. If you are looking for industrial furniture, Traditions can get it for you! Just come on in....

Oh boy...three of my faborites all in one room! The leopard rug...crystal chandelier and tons of bookshelves!

Three more favorites...bold stripes on the shade, a bamboo shade, and a map and a globe mobile...not to mention the antique looking hanging lamp! ( By the way, we have that mobile at the store right now.)

Tracy Porter loves to mix it up! Besides using a darling chandelier she also has a table lamp in the bathroom.

This last pic is so wonderful....not just one, but a grouping of chandeliers!
That's it! I'll be back in a couple of days..take care. Sue

In Love with these Images....

I am having problems with my camera....it is six years old, so I have definitely got my use out of it, but I don't want to part with it because I would have to learn how to use a new one! So, consequently, until I get it back in working order I went to my favorite pictures collection and thought I would share with you... I just wish you could see all of the amazing new "stuff" we have at the shop. You will have to stop in....
This mix of old brick, old mirror, old floors ....with the shiny stainless is so great.I love the mix of old and new. Wonderful industrial stools...

Somehow libraries always get to me....such a cozy, timeless place.
Again, I love the stack of books with the zebra rug, modern chair.......I think I love it because it is not predictable.
Hmmm....more books cases....but some toile, fur, blue and white porcelain, mismatched side tables, books stacked on a chair, and artwork hung over the bookcase...how perfect!

I think I see a trend developing here...adore the mismatched mirrors in a serene bathroom...unexpected? That is my point!
Who wouldn't love this? Uh oh....mismatched chairs!

I love these guys too! My grandchildren...miss them so much...they live in Florida.

When going through my favorite photos I couldn't resist......McKenna..

Weston...
Landon...

These guys certainly aren't mismatched.....you know they all belong together!

My son Josh and his wife Emily......

Ok...I'm back....I've been noticing a lot of doors and windows painted black. I like it.

Not boring is it? I think we try too hard to get everything to "go together".....so many of the things we already have and love just need to be "tweeked". Maybe all you need is a yummy slip covered settee ....or a couple of new interesting pillows.

I especially love this photo because it says okay to mixing frame finishes and subject matter. You can pick all your favorite artwork and enjoy it all in one place. Kelli and I just hung a wall of artwork for a client yesterday. It included icons, etchings, artwork pressed between two pieces of glass, a shelf with two porcelain cats on it, and some original artwork. The frames were black, gold, and wood. The wall included lots of old favorites and some new things from the store......Oh ya...I guess there are some mixed chairs used here too!

I love using chandeliers over a counter in the kitchen. They give off a lot more light than you think. At the shop we have used three lights over our counter.....but the one in the middle is different than the others. Well, that is all I have for today. I'll try to get some new shop pics up later this week. Remember to stop by or call the shop if you need help with arranging bookcases, having new window treatments made, or freshening up your accessories. Take care, Sue
